I'm heartbroken because this property, although it is in a challenging location, has the sweetest staff and has been contracted to be used by the city for a housing situation. I'm praying that the hotel will be restored after this reassignment of purpose. I've been coming here for a few years since moving out of NYC, and there are repeat guests who make this their home while we visit family or handle other business.

Apparently this hotel allows "long term" guests as the woman next to me was staying a while and had her TV up full blast all night the first night I was there. She was taking a full laundry basket to the laundromat when I left. Also, this area is sketch.....don't stay there alone. And don't go out at night.

We stayed here for 1 night as a family of 4 en route from JFK to Manhattan. Taxi from JFK was less than $50 including tip. Check in was smooth and staff friendly. I did notice a bath tap on the check-in counter....... The room was a little cramped with 2 queen beds, a tight squeeze to get into the bathroom as the door wouldn't open fully because of the bed. Otherwise the room was clean, as was the bathroom. I'd been a little worried from some of the previous reviews about the train noise, as our room was overlooking the station below, but we never really heard much although that could have been helped by the jet-lag! It took me quite a while to work out how to use the shower, that's when the tap at check-in made sense! The location was good for access to the train and the subway was only a couple of blocks away (Nostrand Ave.) Buffet breakfast was good, well-stocked and plenty of choice. Overall I'd definitely stay here again.

My husband, myself and daughter stayed at this hotel because it was in close proximity to where my mother in law’s funeral would be held the following day. In addition, parking and breakfast was available. Upon arriving at the hotel front desk staff were very personable, welcoming and thorough, down to how to operate the shower and informing that vaping or smoking of any kind was prohibited, not a problem for me. I was given a placard to put in my car window and parked around the back of the hotel. Upon arriving to my room I realized that I had been assigned a front room right across from the train. Room was small in my opinion for 2 double beds as the closet door touched one bed while open and the heat/air unit is up against the other bed. As I moved around the room I noticed a smell of marijuana, which I was specifically informed was prohibited. Within a few minutes the smell got stronger. I opened my door and did not smell anything in the hallway at that time. I went to the lobby and informed the staff that if it persists, I will need to be moved. I was informed that I they would investigate and they would also move me to another room on the same floor. I switched to an identical room but on the opposite side. This room seemed fine…until in the later hours of the night I pulled back the bed comforter to find what looked like bodily fluid stains in the middle of the bed. At that point my husband and daughter and myself were exhausted both emotionally, mentally and grieving so I pulled the flat sheet over the fitted sheet so we could sleep for the evening. Upon getting up in the morning and preparing for the funeral, I noticed the amount of long, straight, brown hair on the bathroom floor. I have short, curly, grey hair, my husband is bald and daughter has curly auburn hair so obviously not ours. We did not have the time or the energy to deal with this due to the circumstances. I took pictures and decided to deal with this later as we had other priorities. After returning home, we received a survey which we completed. I explained our issues as stated in this review and received an email response shortly thereafter from the manager which offered me an opportunity to contact her. I attempted to call almost immediately but was informed that she was not there. I was told to send an email response which I did asking that I be contacted to further discuss. To date I have not heard from anyone else, if I had this review would have reflected how they responded or made amends. I do not feel that the response that I received was adequate in comparison to the lack of cleanliness of the room. The bare minimum should be a sanitary room especially given the current pandemic. There didn’t appear to be any concern about bodily fluids on the sheets or hairs all over the bathroom floor, no empathizing for how disgusting this must have been for us. I could not return to this hotel again having no confidence that I am sleeping in a clean room with clean sheets and that management is not willing to make this right. The fact that breakfast opened half an hour late and my husband was asked to come back was something that we could live with. I can live with the fact that most likely I used conditioner to wash my body because the shampoo, conditioner and body was were all in the wrong containers on the shower wall. I could probably have lived with other minimal issues like burnt out lightbulbs or the noise from the train but absolutely not the dirty sheets. If someone contacts me for further discussion, I will update the review . I understand that nothing is perfect and mistakes happen, I only care about the effort to make things right and they didn’t do that. ****** Since this review was posted, I have since communicated with management and have resolved my issues satisfactory.

The staff is stellar in my opinion! I always feel welcome every time I stay. Basic clean accommodations, great breakfast, grateful for parking. The neighborhood is a bit rough so be watchful at night.
